KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Danica Patrick’s visit to the Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway two weeks ago was more about seeing friends than putting out feelers.

But aside from renewing ties with former Indy Racing League peers Dario Franchitti and Sam Hornish Jr., Patrick’s Phoenix appearance as a guest of Roush Fenway Racing also could mark a step toward establishing new relationships in stock-car racing — perhaps with Jack Roush, who admitted officials from his powerhouse Cup team spoke to Patrick at Phoenix.

KANSAS CITY, MO. (April 25, 2008) – Gabi DiCarlo picked the right time to show everyone why she has been picked to drive the Great Clips Racing Toyota Camry for Stringer Motorsports. With the team struggling with some bad luck this season Gabi drove the Toyota powered rocket from the 23 starting position to as high as 3rd and contended with the leaders late in the race. It was an impressive run, as the ARCA/REMAX series regular finished the very fast Kansas Speedway’s Kansas Lottery 150 Grand in the 9th position and garnered her first series top ten.

TALLADEGA, Ala. — What do Tony Stewart and Danica Patrick have in common, other than both wearing Nomex suits and $5,000 helmets to work every day?

Chrissy Wallace.

Stewart, as her mentor and coach. Patrick, as her role model.

Mike Wallace, Wallace’s father, the middle of the Wallace brothers, is out in the NASCAR garage working on his own equipment and worrying that his wife and daughter might be red-lining the family credit cards at the mall when they don’t answer their cell phones. But at the moment, Chrissy Wallace, 19, happens to be just lounging on a big sofa in the family motor coach deep in the Talladega Speedway infield, while her mother, Carla, sits attentively on a sofa on the other side.

Robby Gordon’s sister, primarily an off-road driver, will be in Saturday’s Pro/Celebrity race.

April 28, 2008

Beccy Gordon just might be an accident waiting to happen Friday on the streets of downtown Long Beach.

It’s not that NASCAR driver Robby Gordon’s sister, one of the competitors in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity race, can’t handle a race car. In 2006, the Dana Hills resident teamed with her sister Robyn Gordon and Heather Bonnani as part of All American Girl Racing and finished the Baja 1000 while competing in the Baja Challenge division. That made them the first all-female team in the race’s history to complete one of the most grueling endurance tests in motor sports.

Bentham’s Shelley Rogerson, 22, suffered her first rally retirement since September 2006 when a broken crankshaft denied a chance of taking victory on last Saturday’s Somerset Stages rally.

Shelley was partnering Andrew Burton in his Peugeot Cosworth and their rally got off to a brilliant start when they set the fastest time on the opening three mile Broadwood stage. Two more forest stages followed with Burton and Rogerson once again setting the fastest time, taking a lead of eight seconds over second placed Damian Cole at the first service halt of the event.

After the disastrous weekend at the DTM season opener at Hockenheim Susie Stoddart was aiming for improvement just one week later on round 2 at Oschersleben.

But after experiencing two days of practice without any technical problems on her TV Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C Class she was quite disappointed after qualifying. “My car was good, and it was encouraging that I was a lot closer to my team mates pace than I was before”, the 25 year old Scot said. April 28, 2008

mishaela.jpg

Formula Atlantic driver Mishael Abbott of Indianapolis returned to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for the Oak Tree Double National, a two-race weekend hosted by the North Carolina Region Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

Mishael finished Race 1 on Saturday in fifth place and Race 2 on Sunday in second place at the picturesque 17-turn, 3.27-mile road course.

The long weekend was one of progress and enjoyment for Mishael and her K-Hill Motorsports team. It started on Thursday with general practice but on Friday’s first round of qualifying her clutch went out and she had a problem with her transponder resulting in not recording an official lap time. Mishael had to rely on Saturday morning’s qualifying session which secured her fourth on the grid among Formula Atlantics for Race 1.

Beats Dad in Storybook Final Round to Win Summit Southern Nationals

ATLANTA, Ga. - Ashley Force put a new face on Funny Car drag racing Sunday by becoming the first woman to win a national race in a category that once was considered the last bastion of male superiority.

The 25-year-old did so with a flair for the dramatic, beating her father, drag racing icon John Force, in the final round of the 28th annual Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals to deny him his 1,000 winning round in his 500th NHRA tour event.
