PETALUMA, CA (4-5-08) – Following her second consecutive top three finish last weekend, 16-year-old Alissa Geving of Penngrove, California has taken over the early season point lead at her home track of Petaluma Speedway. Geving currently sits in the lead position by a 9-point margin over Matt Sargent.
“Taking over the points lead is probably the best feeling I’ve ever had,” said Geving. “I have never led a points series before and I am ecstatic. Now I need to stop being proud and concentrate on keeping the lead”

We caught up with Lisa Klassen at Drift Day Comp 2. She is recently known as the rally girl gone drift. We got to speak with her briefly as she was practicing with the International All Star’s powered by Mazda, a team in which she is a part of.
EverythingDrift: You’ve been drifting for how long now?
Lisa Klassen: For around 3 months, but I’ve been driving rally for a lot longer, which is almost like drifting sometimes. Real tarmac competitive drifting only 3 months.

ED: You’ve been testing and R&D’ing lately?
LK: We’ve been testing with International AllStars powered by Mazda. We have 2 MX-5’s which have been fully built for drifting. Right now we’re working on some different gearbox setups, we’re also tuning the suspension and tire pressures.
ED: When will the public get to see you competing?
LK: My first display – we recently did an exhibition in Laughlin for some of the officials there, and just last week we did a demo for the city of Long Beach to promote the racing and drifting at the Long Beach Grand Prix, I’m pretty excited about that.

ED: How about Formula Drift for you?
LK: I’m going to be drifting for KA’AZ USA, my first event will be in Atlanta in May, provided things go well in practice *crossing fingers*. Rhys Millen is a good friend of mine, he’s been helping me out, and I know Tanner from rally racing, so he will be helping me out some too. Hopefully I’ll be up to speed by the time I need to be, I have faith in myself. I’m a rally driver, I can do anything!!

ED: Welcome to the drift world! Hope to see big things for you!
Look forward to seeing her first official professional appearance in Formula Drift as a contender in Atlanta. |

ST. PETERSBURG – She grabbed his arm and spoke tersely. He said she was acting like “a spoiled brat.” They eventually talked and made peace.
Danica Patrick and St. Petersburg’s Dan Wheldon, who will race in today’s Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (2:45 p.m., ESPN), say their highly publicized spat after June’s Milwaukee race is behind them.
But is it?
In an offbeat Q&A that accompanied her Sports Illustrated swimsuit photos in February, Patrick playfully named Wheldon as one of two drivers in the Indy Racing League who might wear makeup.

DTM star speaks about how she is taking all the pressure off in 2008 – but how equally she is confident she is in for her best year yet in the fiercely-competitive category.

Heading into her third consecutive season in the DTM motorsport’s leading pan-European tin-top series Susie Stoddart insists the pressure is off, and with one of the three-pointed star’s potent 2007-spec C-Classes at her disposal Scotland’s leading lady is well aware she has her greatest chance yet to impress.
Crash.net Radio caught up with the 25-year-old as she looked ahead to the opening round on the 2008 calendar at Hockenheim, hearing about why she is more revved up than ever and raring to get the new campaign into gear this weekend.

Transmission Gremlin Forces DNQ for Matter’s Season Opener

BAYTOWN, Texas – The Top Alcohol Funny Car Team of Nancy Matter had hoped for better results at the 21st Annual running of the O’Reilly Spring Nationals in Baytown this past weekend. The team, armed with a complete new arsenal of parts, was plagued with transmission issues for each pass keeping them from qualifying within the 16-car field.
“We made some significant changes in the fuel system prior to going into this race”, stated Matter. “On the first pass, when the car launched, it shook and bounced around a bit but I opted to drive through it. Read More

Scotland’s leading lady racer ready to do battle on a more level playing field in 2008.

She may still have to open her points-scoring account in the DTM, but Susie Stoddart insists the pressure is off in 2008 – as she enters the campaign with her best chance yet to impress.
The Scot has moved across from Mücke Motorsport to Persson Motorsport for the new campaign – set to get into gear at her favourite circuit of Hockenheim this weekend – and she says she has settled in well, and is particularly enthusiastic about the opportunity to be working alongside 2005 DTM title-winner and Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes Formula One test driver Gary Paffett this year.
“Obviously whenever you join a new team it’s different people you’re working with and a different way of doing things,” she acknowledged, speaking to Crash.net Radio, “and that takes a bit of adapting to. I was very happy at my old team Mücke, but I was switched over to Persson and I’m very happy there also. They had Bruno Spengler and Jamie Green before they moved up to the factory team. They try to nurture the young drivers and help them to develop, which is a great situation for me to be in.

Saturday was not overly successful. I started 2nd on the grid. I got a great start, got into first place and lead the race for a few laps. I was overtaken and then squeezed onto the less grippy surface and span off. This incident dropped me into 14th place. However, I managed to get back up into 9th place but ran out of laps.
