(May 22, 2008) Indianapolis, IN - Pages 162, 163, and 165 of the 2008 Indianapolis 500 program are dedicated to a driver that is not racing this weekend. A young driver who turned the heads of many in the open wheel community when she burst onto the scene in 2007. Driving for Sam Schmidt Motorsports in her first open wheel race, she qualified 5th and had such an impressive run that four time Indy 500 Champion Rick Mears reacted by saying, “Leilani did a great job. Geving Completes Weekend with Chico Double Header and Advancement in Civil War Series

PENNGROVE, CA (5-25-08) - Sixteen year-old Alissa Geving returned to the likes of Silver Dollar Speedway for two consecutive nights of racing over the Memorial Day weekend. The double header event took place beneath the backdrop of the annual Silver Dollar Fair, an event Geving and the Chicko Motorsports team all look forward and concluded their weekend with a 13th place finish and advancement in the competitive Civil War Sprint Car Series.

After using Saturday’s non-points event to test and tune her new 2008 Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises Maxim Sprint Car, Geving’s highlight of the two day weekend was Sunday’s Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series event, the fourth segment of a 15-race series that competes at six different California Speedway’s throughout the season.

1st Place Pro Finish Earns Bell an Invitation To Nationals at Michigan Speedway

After her late model race in Roseville, CA., on Saturday evening, Mackena Bell Motorsports loaded up the race trailer early Sunday morning and headed north to Ukiah Speedway for a National Qualifiers event in the INEX 600 Legends Division.

Coming off of a 2nd place finish just a few weeks ago, Bell’s crew rolled out the #25 owned by Mackena’s late model crew chief, Dave Sciarroni to see what they could do on one of Mackena’s favorite past~time raceways.

In her first hot lap session, Bell posted a 2nd place effort and a 5th place effort of the 27 car field. Lining up to qualify, Bell rose to 4th place on the board and firmly placed herself on the pole of the Trophy Dash.

Female Pioneers Search for Equal Ground in Auto Racing

On the day Danica Patrick claimed her historic victory at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan last month, Kristin Bumbera was half a world away. Bumbera was running at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, Texas, just south of Austin. She finished 11th in the Allstate Texas Thunder 150 Race, part of the Camping World West series. She was the only woman running. She’s used to that.

Decades after Shirley Muldowney knocked down the gender barrier at the top levels of drag racing, success by women in motor sports is still largely hit or miss. But those who have followed the pioneers are now giving rise to more young drivers, and that next generation will one day be Patrick’s legacy and that of today’s other female racers.

Wet run for Sarah Wherry at Silverstone

The first two races of the 2008 MR2 racing series are with us at the home of British Motorsport Silverstone in Northamptonshire.

We traveled down at 9pm on the Saturday evening and arrived just gone 12pm, we managed to get into the paddock area, and rolled the car off the trailer and positioned both in spaces in the paddock ready for morning, that done we climbed into the back of the transit and got some sleep.

Matter Earns Semi-Final Finish At Houston Raceway Park

Following three rounds of qualifying, Nancy Matter qualified in the seventh spot of the eight-car field. Matter Racing had very little data to work with, as the car never performed to its potential, encountering severe tire shake on each pass. “On our second qualifier, we shook so hard that it sheered all but one blower stud off and lifted the supercharger”, noted Matter. “We softened the car a lot for the third run just to get it down the track. We went a little too far, however, we were still in the field, so we were pretty happy to be running on Sunday”. [Read more]

Jessica Zemken shocks them again, wins Brockville Season Opener

BROCKVILLE-Jessica Zemken continues to put her mark on the history book at Brockville Ontario Speedway. She was the first woman to win a Sportsman race at the Beast of the East. Last year, the young lady became the first female to win a Sprint Car race at the fast quarter mile oval. Last night, in her first ever start at Brockville in a 358 Modified she did it again, grabbing the win in the 30 lap Season Opener at the reconfigured clay oval. Braking problems spoil Susie Stoddarts chances at EuroSpeedway Lausitz

After a frustrating last race weekend at Mugello Susie Stoddart proved to be competitive again two weeks later at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz near the city of Dresden in Eastern Germany. After three practice sessions with no major problems and encouraging lap times she even entertained hopes to step up to the second qualifying section. But disappointingly she found herself only on 17th position in the grid.
