Prepping for the 2012 Season

While the off season between the 2011 and 2012 season has been going on for quite some time Chryst Motorsports has been very busy!

The car was winterize and torn apart.  The transmission was removed, the radiator was drained and flushed, and other miscellaneous items.  In December I went to the PRI (Performance Racing Industry) Trade show in Orlando, FL.  I had the privilege to meet many different people within the layers of motorsports.    Between taking seminars and networking with other people the PRI show was a huge learning experience for me.  Learning numerous different types of trades and other various materials made for motorsports really made me understand that there are so many different aspects of racing.

At the end of January and into the beginning of February I was given to opportunity to showcase my car in the Washington Auto Show in the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Washington DC Regions booth.  I met so many different people while at the show it was an experience I will never be able to explain in full detail.  While meeting these people there were quite a few people interested in becoming involved in motorsports.  Although I have only competed in the road racing series with SCCA there are a few other types of racing people can compete in.  From Solo Auto Cross, to track days, and even off road rally racing SCCA really gives you different types of racing to find the style that best suites you.  Everyone took to the car and really enjoyed seeing how Mazda really has kept up with their love for the Miata.  I got a lot of “I own a Miata as well and it is a great car”.  A huge Congrats to Mazda, for keeping such a great name for them even while competing in motorsports.  A lot of people wanted to learn how they could race their Miata they currently own.  Meeting all these people and hearing their kind words or support and encouragement really confirms why I am chasing my dream to become a professional race car driver.

Things are moving along now that the car is out of the Auto Show.  We can get it scaled and track ready for Sebring in March with the American Le Mans series.  I hope to see you all at an event near you!
