The 24 hours of Rouen is the most prestigious powerboat endurance race in the world. For the first time the German Yvonne Koenig will take the challenge of the race around the Ile Lacroix. Yvonne joins the French Team Neptune Inshore which started in 2008 and raced within the top 5 in the past years. For Yvonne this is the first time racing an Optimax powered F2 Boat, so this will be a new experience and Yvonne is really excited about being part of this 3 day battle in the rough conditions of river Seine.
This race is not only about being the fastest but also seeing the checkered flag after hundreds of laps, several driver changes and refueling. So a perfect prepared boat and engine are the key to be successful at this endurance race. With Team Neptune, Yvonne found an experienced team where she has the chance to be within the front-runners together with her teammates.
From may 26th to 28th we will see if the combination Yvonne Koenig and Team Neptune can be successful. We will keep everybody updated at Yvonne’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/thesharkbite.net

An international all-women’s race team has come together to take on an historic — some say the most grueling — event in boating: the 24 Heure Motonautiques de Rouen. And helping this global team of champions conquer the River Seine is global boat transport champion Peters & May.

In its 48th year, the 24 Hours of Rouen has had other all-female teams competing, but this year, for the first time it is an international team, including the first North American woman to enter the fray; Canadian Tammy Wolf, who was hand-picked by team manager Albert Hericher along with her teammates Bimba Sjoholm of Sweden, Norway’s Mette Bjerknaes and Marie-Line Henricher of France.

Hundreds of racers come to France each spring from around the world to compete in three classes of “tunnel boat” or ‘Formula” racing, with the speeds and G-forces similar to any other race. However, at Rouen, pilots turn the boat to the right and they do it in the dark.(...)
Read the rest of Peters & May Joins International All-Women’s Team

With all the attention women in motorsports are getting these day’s it seems as though were under a huge microscope, every move we make is being recorded and analyzed.

As some of you know powerboat racing has been my passion. I am honored to follow my dreams and be surrounded and supported by a wonderful team, family and sponsors. However, this microscope, at times, can be overwhelming. It can add stress to an already tense racing environment but as I have learned it can be used as an incredible tool to help others, either by motivating individuals to follow there dreams or sometimes by helping people we will never see or meet.

In 2011, the team was fortunate enough to work with our racing series to raise funds for “Tour for the Cure” which is part of Vera Bradely’s foundation. A few weeks ago, I received an email by David Bayer and his daughter, Emma. David explained that in 2010, Emma met pro-soccer player, McCall Zeboni and they instantly became very good friends and eventually created “MZ & Emmers Sports Bra Auction for Breast Cancer”. Women athletes from professional sports donate there autographed and decorated sports bra’s to be auctioned off on Ebay for charity.(...)
Read the rest of IT’S TIME TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

They say it’s the journey, not the destination. After 16 years of pursuing my passion, I can honestly say the journey has been amazing and I look forward to continuing to pursue my ultimate dream of one day racing, Formula 1 tunnel boats.

My name is Tammy Wolf and I am a Formula 3 powerboat race driver. I am very grateful to have this opportunity to blog on FRN about my experiences as a professional powerboat race driver. Thank you for taking the time to read my introductory blog, I look forward to updating you on our 2012 season and events.

Growing up in Canada, my father worked at a company called Mercury Marine. Mercury provided motors and factory support for powerboat racers. In the summer, my family traveled to boat races across the country. When we weren’t at races we were up at our cottage with race boats and drivers, my father helped them perfect there boats, motors, props and racing set-ups.

I had a pretty incredible childhood, watching these wonderful athletes and machines compete, even today I am astonished at the beauty and graces of a tunnel boat gliding on top of the water balancing on a cushion of air.

At the age of 18, I started racing in a smaller, slower Formula–V class and through the years progressed up the ranks. Competition was great in Canada and I learned a lot racing. In 2004, I joined friends on a trip to a boat race in the United Stated. It was exciting to see the tough rivalry in Formula 3, boats were fiercely competitive and the series had three times as many racers then the Canadian circuit.

During the fall of 2004, I purchased my first Formula 3 (SST 60) boat, registered as a racing member of that American Power Boat Association (APBA) and prepared to compete in ’05. My first Formula 3 season was unbelievable. I was amazed at all the camaraderie in the pit area and how supportive the competing teams were. At the conclusion of 2005, racers had welcomed me into the series and I was honored to win the Canadian Cup Award for highest-ranking Canadian driver on the circuit.(...)
Read the rest of Tammy Wolf, FRN Blogger Introduction

For the first time Yvonne Koenig tested a DAC F2 Boat this weekend. Very quick she got familiar with the handling of the boat and showed some great action on the test track at Borgoforte in Italy. Overall Yvonne did more than 60 laps and improved lap times and speed. At the end she reached a top speed of 114 mph on the almost half a mile long straight of the two buoy course. After the 2 days of testing Yvonne was very happy and Max Folloni who made the test possible was quite satisfied with her skills.(...)
Read the rest of German Powerboat Pilot Yvonne Koenig tests Formula 2

As the 2012 powerboat racing season closes, TVR is ecstatic to announce another successful season. Although the season ended with a bang instead of a boom at the National Championships in Illinois, the team still broke records.

The #8, Formula 3 powerboat driven by Tammy Wolf with crew chief, Sam Haraway’s guidance was able to gain a Divisional Title in West Virginia. This is the first, women driven team that has obtained this title in Formula 3 racing. We are also the only team with a women driver that has won two races in the American Powerboat Superleague Series. Last season, the team won the Regional Championship in Indiana and now a title of Divisional Champion.

In October, Tammy will be the second women in the American Powerboat Superleague Series 25 year history to win the Iron Women Award. Tammy and the team have run 30 consecutive races. This is an extremely elite group that Tammy and the team are now inducted into.(...)
Read the rest of 2011 Successful Season for Tammy Wolf and TVR
