PETALUMA, CA (4-5-08) – Following her second consecutive top three finish last weekend, 16-year-old Alissa Geving of Penngrove, California has taken over the early season point lead at her home track of Petaluma Speedway. Geving currently sits in the lead position by a 9-point margin over Matt Sargent.

“Taking over the points lead is probably the best feeling I’ve ever had,” said Geving. “I have never led a points series before and I am ecstatic. Now I need to stop being proud and concentrate on keeping the lead”

Driving her family owned Chick-O-Motorsports – Pit Stop USA #3X sprint car, Geving has earned the hardcharger award for two consecutive weeks at Petaluma Speedway. Two weeks ago in the season opener for the All Pro weekly point series, Geving started 12th in A-feature and charged her way from the rear of the field to finish 3rd in the 25-lap feature event. More recently, she charged from a 12th place starting position and made a last lap pass to finish second last Saturday night.

With two consitent top three finishes, Geving is setting her sights on a strong campaign for the 2008 Petaluma Speedway track championship. Last season she made history at her home town track when, at the age of 15, she became the youngest female nationwide to ever win a sprint car feature. Geving continued her successful rookie season with a total of four feature wins between both Petaluma and Antioch Speedway, earning Rookie of the Year honors at the conclusion of the season.

In addition to the wins in 2007, Geving was named the Paul Tyler Rising Star by the Motorsports Press Association and was named one of just 80 young drivers as being eligible for NASCAR’s Developmental program. In an effort to maintain her 4.4 grade average at Ursline High School, she chose to pass the opportunity this time around but has hopes of one day becoming part of the nation’s leading stock car racing body.

This Wednesday, April 9, Geving and the Chick-O-Motorsports crew will travel to Placerville Speedway in the Sierra Foothills this Wednesday night for “Wild Winged Wednesday” and the opening round the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series. Following her second ever appearance at Placerville, she will return to her home track of Petaluma series to compete in the series for its second round.”
