YORBA LINDA, CA (March 24, 2011) — NHRA superstar and Castrol GTX funny car driver Ashley Force Hood will be one of the celebrity headliners at the 37th annual Piston Ring World of Wheels show in Winnipeg, MB this weekend. The hot rod, custom car and motorcycle show will run from March 25-27 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Force Hood will be signing autograph on Saturday from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
“I am excited to be heading to Winnipeg for the Piston Rings World of Wheels,” said the reigning and two-time Mac Tools U.S. Nationals funny car winner. “My dad has a ton of fans in Canada and we get a lot of fan mail from Canada as well. This is a great opportunity to see fans that don’t get to meet NHRA drivers very often plus my sponsor Castrol has a big Canadian presence.”
In addition to Force Hood the celebrity showcase will also feature Captain Johnathan Hillstrand from TV’s “Deadliest Catch,” Noah Munck who plays Gibby Gibson on TV’s iCarly and Gene Winfield, Hot Rod legend.
But the real stars of the World of Wheels Show are the antique, custom, muscle cars, trucks, and race vehicles. These cars represent millions of dollars’ worth of investment and countless hours of craftsmanship and maintenance. Show-goers have the opportunity to view more than 150 Show Vehicles in competition for prizes and points as part of the International Show Car Association (I.S.C.A.) sanctioned event. Vehicles on display are owned by Manitobans as members of over a dozen Car Clubs throughout Manitoba as well as numerous show vehicles from across the U.S.A.  See over 50 automotive-related booths displaying exceptional products and services.
On display at the 37th annual Piston Rings World of Wheels show will be some of the finest Hot Rods, customs and motorcycles including the ”Scythe” radical concept car by Galpin Auto Sports, “6 Pack”  a wild custom from the cover of Mini Truckin’ Magazine, “Downtown Brown” Goodguys Hot Rod of Year, ”Streetnik Bandit” a wild creation of Dennis “Lil Daddy” Roth, Drag City Canada featuring vintage race cars presented by Castrol, Muscle Car Café presented by Show Time Customs, Extreme Motorcycle 2011 section presented by Rolling Thunder located on the 2nd floor, Club Challenge presented by Trader Corporation, Knoxville Nationals Sprint Car Simulator and fans will be able to see the debut of Kenny Lang’s ‘69 Pro Mod Camaro.
