NHRA Racer Nicole Lyons Joins The Cast Of SPEED Networks’ “CAR WARRIORS” and Gears Up for the 2011 Race Season
Feb 21, 2011 – Nicole Lyons is fueled by talent, beauty and good old fashion engine knowledge. As one of the few female automotive racers, Lyons announces her plans to race in the 2011 National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) season competing in the NHRA Top Sportsman. In addition to professional racing, Lyons has been chosen to be on an all-star cast for SPEED’s “CAR WARRIORS.”
This past October, Lyons was invited to the prestigious 2010 Orlando World Street Nationals, to compete in the fastest, most coveted class; Pro Street. Lyons was the only woman to solidly qualify and compete in Pro Street, which allowed fans to acknowledge her professional, competitive—yet aggressive skill set. Her plans were pro-active: race NHRA Pro Mod and be formally introduced to the NASCAR racing leagues.
After ending her NHRA season in November 2010, the ambitious Lyons began testing her 1969 Pro Mod Camaro, which demonstrated blistering results. Her ‘69 Camaro has over 3,000 horsepower and demonstrates phenomenal speed giving her an anticipated edge over her competitors for the 2011 racing season.
Off the track, Lyons has been selected to be on the SPEED’s new highly anticipated reality series “CAR WARRIORS.” Lyons will participate as part of an All-Star team and the show will air on February 23, 2011, on the SPEED. “CAR WARRIORS” is a car restoration competition and Lyons is the only female engine expert in the cast. “CAR WARRIORS” (Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET, 60 minutes) – Produced by BASE Productions, is hyper-charged automotive build show that pits a team of eight “all-star” builders against a team of average ‘Joes’ from local garages in a 72-hour challenge to turn a basic car into a work of art. Judges include iconic car designer George Barris, hot rod craftsman Jimmy Shine and electronics wizard Mad Mike.
Aside from television, Lyons most recently made the highly prestigious list of the “10 Hottest Women in Drag Racing,” according to Drag Illustrated Magazine (January 2011 issue).
