The White Oak Motorsports team of Mark Fox and Karen Jankowski (Wagner) have announced there entry at this month’s Oregon Trail Rally. This will be Round 4 in the Rally America National Championship and the first of several rallies planned for the team. Fox is the 2009 Rally America Rookie of the Year winner and Jankowski is a Rally America and Max Attack co-driving Champion. The team plans on competing in select events in 2011 in order to prepare for a full season in 2012.
The team will once again be partnered with the National Guard who will be appearing at Thursday’s Fan Fest along with the team.
“Our goal for the event is to have a drama free top 5 finish and for the National Guard troops that attend to have the experience of a lifetime” states co-driver Jankowski.
The Oregon Trail Rally, scheduled for May 13-15th, is known as one of the toughest tests for rally racing teams as they take on the challenging Northwest forestry roads. While the event is held in late spring, unpredictable weather conditions have always been a factor for competitors. Coupled with the tight and twisty nature of the special racing stage roads quite often make this event a battle of attrition.
This year’s event will start in the heart of the city at Portland International Raceway (PIR) on Friday, May 13th, followed by exciting special racing stages on Saturday and Sunday, May 14-15th, on the closed forest and county gravel roads south of the Columbia River Gorge.
Come and see the team at:
*Oregon Trail Rally Fan Fest on Thursday May 15th at Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse 11:00am-13:00pm
* Friday May 16th racing starts at 6pm-20:45 at the Portland International Raceway
*Saturday May 14th from 10:00-11:00am at the Kmart Mall in The Dalles
*Sunday May 15th from 10:00-11:00am at Main Street in Dulfar
