Munroe Falls, Ohio (28 June 2012) – Following a three-week break in the Trans Am schedule, Amy Ruman is set for Round 4 of the 2012 Championship and The All-American Race Weekend presented by Global Barter Corporation event at New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend. Ruman will look to carry the momentum of two consecutive podium finishes into Sunday’s 45-lap race.

Driving the No. 23 McNichols Co./Goodyear/Cenweld Corvette, Ruman’s podium streak started off at Lime Rock Park when she made an impressive run in her debut at the track with a third place result. She then followed up that effort to score second in front of her hometown crowd at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course after staging a thrilling battle for the lead. Ruman will now look to go one better this weekend with a trip to the top-step of the podium as she makes her second Trans Am appearance at the Garden State circuit.

Ruman last visited the track in 2010 when she debuted at the New Jersey road course with a qualifying effort of sixth and went on to earn fifth at the finish.

“I’ve run at New Jersey before so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the track,” said Ruman. “It’s a bit narrow and twisty, but there is also the long front stretch that can set up some passing going into one. We are getting more and more familiar with this Corvette every weekend and we’ll really want to pick up where we left off at Mid-Ohio.”

On the strength of her two podium results, Ruman is currently third in the Trans Am Championship standings and will look to pick up a healthy haul of points this weekend with another strong run as she sits just eight points out of second place.

“We had a good, intense run of races between running Trans Am and the SCCA double National at Mid-Ohio, so it has been good for us to get home and have a chance to catch up and go through the car,” said Ruman of the short break between rounds 3 and 4. “We have consistently been in reach of a victory and that’s really helped us in the points standings, but it would be great to get back to the winner’s circle in Trans Am, and that is what everyone at Ruman Racing is focused on as we head to New Jersey.”

The race weekend will see a busy three days of on-track action as the Trans Am Series shares the track with ARCA. The first Trans Am practice will take place Friday afternoon with another round of practice Saturday morning ahead of a 30-minute qualifying session in the afternoon. The 45-lap, 101.25-mile race begins at 10:05 AM (ET) Sunday.

Viewing Note: The Trans Am New Jersey Motorsports Park highlights race show will air on MAVTV, Sunday July 8th at 6:00 pm EST.
