Brianne Corn takes the 2011 SCCA B Mod National Championship

Brianne Corn, of San Marcos, Texas, became the just the third woman – and first since Rita Wilsey in 2005 – in SCCA Solo history to win a Solo National Championship in an open class. Corn led B Modified in the Janco/Hoosier LeGrand Dragon after the first day, and then turned the quickest lap of the day on Friday. Clemens Burger, who had captured the previous two National Championships in class, gave chase but ultimately fell 1.504-second short of topping Corn.

The National Championship is the second for Corn, who won the B Modified Ladies class in 2008. Corn finished second to Burger a season ago in her third season in the open class. Shauna Marinus was the first woman to win an open class National Championship, in 1998.
