The new revamped Snetterton track is now very technical and at the start I struggled to get to grips with it but by the time qualifying came round I had a pretty good understanding of where I could be quick to make sure I was well up the grid of 21 cars.
I qualified in 7th place and the only people to out qualify me were previous Volkswagen Cup race winners which had also completed an extra days worth of testing at the new track.
The start of race one was a good one and I got off the line well but on the run to turn one I got a knock on my left rear which knocked the tracking out for the whole race. Despite the damage I managed to keep 7th place until the end of the race where I crossed the line to become equal to the highest placed woman in a Volkswagen Cup race. This also meant I would start 7th for race two and I was hoping to be racing in the top 6.
At the first corner of race two I was involved in an incident and suffered a puncture trying to avoid a spinning car. I nursed the car back to the pits but lost two laps whilst they were changing the wheel and repairing the car for me to go back out.
I am still 10th in the championship even with a ‘0’ point score so I hope to gain a few more places in the championship at Brands Hatch and break the target of being the highest placed female in a Volkswagen Cup race.
My next round is at Brands Hatch on the Grand Prix circuit on the 19th June, until then I have 5 exams and also a track day planned to get some laps in my race car and familiarise myself with the circuit.
