Sam Burman has taken a fine third place in both the Refined Recruitment 125GP Championship, and the Dara Brady Open 400 Championship, concluding this year’s NG Road Racing Club season. In the final round held at Thruxton, last Saturday, Burman, despite a fall in the first outing, bagged two fifth place finishes later in the day.

With Championship points determining the front row for race one, Burman made a great start, leading the chasing pack into Allard for the first time of asking. However, the lead was to be short lived as the rain started coming lightly but enought to wet the track leaving sam’s slick tyres struggling for grib as she over enthusiasticly powered round the fast right – hander at seagrave causing her to crash out of the race.

The biggest disappointment was the fact that due to her earlier mishap, Burman would start the all important points race from the back of the 35 strong grid. However, with her race face well and truly on, she was in determined mood, and picked off her rivals in style to take the chequered flag in an impressive fifth place of the 125 competitors, thus consolidating her third place in the Championship.

Happy to have rounded off the 125 series with a decent show, Burman was keen to improve on her success in the Open 400 final encounter. Riding another impressive race she took fifth position overall and was the first 125 machine home, a result that meant she had taken another well deserved third place, this time in the Open 400 Championship.

Sam Burman:

“ I suffered with the windy conditions this weekend to be honest. The rain and an eager rider caught us out in the first race which left me having to start from the back for the point’s race; I had a not too bad ride to get to 5th. I was really pleased to take 3rd in the Open 400 Championship to go with a 3rd in the 125 Championship, and I would like to thank the clubs officals and marshalls for a great year.”

Burman will be back in action for the finale of the Thundersport GB series, taking place over the weekend of 18-19 October,

during which, racing will take place at both Donington Park (Saturday) and Mallory Park (Sunday).

Making excellent use of a weekend away from her regular Thundersport GB exploits, Sam Burman has taken a double victory in the 125cc class, and two podium finishes in the all comers races at round 12 of the New Era Motorcycle Club Championship at Snetterton on Sunday. Subsequently, she was presented with the ‘Rider of the Day’ award for her achievements.

Using the event as extra practice, Burman quickly got down to serious business, posting the second fastest time during qualifying, ensuring a front row position for the two GP125 races that run alongside the Formula 400′s, Hornets, and Honda CB500′s.

In race one, she made a good start, and was immediately in a three way battle for the lead with Sam Hornsey and Simon Low. However, calculating her race to perfection, Burman got the hammer down and pulled a gap at the front of just over a second, to take a well earned victory. Race two was much of the same, dicing once again with Hornsey and Low, until two laps from home Simon Low highsided coming out of the Russell chicane, and Hornsey crashed trying to avoid him, leaving Burman to once again take the honours, this time by a more comfortable margin of eight seconds.

In the first of the all comers races Burman, again starting from second place on the grid, didn’t get the start that she hoped for, but she battled through the pack to finish on the podium in third place. For the final race of the day, she got a much better start, and with the previous race winner, Phil Guillou, not taking part, Burman settled into second place behind Martin Thrower, a position she would comfortably hold on to, until heavy rain caused the race to be stopped on safety grounds.

Sam Burman:

“What a great day! We were the fastest 125 of the weekend, winning both races, and had some great battles. The all comers races were good fun and we achieved two podiums, all in all a really good weekend, and to be awarded the ‘Rider of the Day’ just finished it off, which I was proud of.”

Burman will be back in action in the Thundersport GB series over the weekend of 13-14 September, when the series visits Anglesey for the penultimate round of the Championship.

Sam Burman (www.samburman.co.uk) is looking forward to a successful weekend’s racing at Cadwell on May 17th and 18th, where she will be racing her Honda RS in 125cc in both the 125 class in the Thundersport Championship.

Sam has had a mixed start to the 2008 season, overcoming crashes, illness and severe weather conditions to get back on the podium at Brands Hatch with a 3rd place finish.
