Savannah Rickli takes two podium finishes in her first race weekend of 2012!

May 17, 2012- Eighteen year old driver, Savannah Rickli, found success with an overall 2nd place finish in her first weekend driving the #58beatbyagirl.org Porsche Cayman in the Intercontinental Trophy Cup (ITC) Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park May 11-13,. While it was Round Two in the series’ season, it was Rickli’s first competition behind the wheel of the Glass Hammer Racing sponsored Cayman. Rickli drove the Team Isringhausen Cayman in the P2 class of the ITC series’ second season, which has seen a growth in driver entries.

Rickli qualified third in the field of P2 cars and finished the weekend with enough points for a 2nd place finish for the weekend. Rickli knows that the success of her weekend would not have been possible without the talented team that stood behind her. “Glass Hammer Racing has been so incredibly supportive in helping me get to this weekend. They helped me pull together the April test day at NJMP last minute, so that I was able to show up this weekend already knowing the track and the car. The folks at Isringhausen, Chris Smith Racing, and the ITC Series provided continued support all weekend so that all I needed to focus on was just driving!”

“Savannah had an awesome showing in her professional racing debut,” said Greg Gaich, owner of Glass Hammer Racing. “We are looking for racers just like Savannah who just need a chance to show what they can do at the next level of competition. I couldn’t be more delighted with our decision to support Savannah and we look forward to more great things from her down the road.”

And of course, Rickli cannot forget where her passion for driving came from, with her Mom trackside all weekend, Rickli’s Cayman had “I <3 Mom” decals displayed on Sunday as a Mother’s Day surprise. “My parents are the ones who got me started in racing from the time I was born. To have both my parents, and my fiancé, with me this weekend, it was really special to be able to share my first ITC weekend with them.”

Rickli is setting her eyes on the top of Pikes Peak as she prepares for her third run at the Pikes Peak International Hill climb on July 8. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is America’s second oldest motorsports race. It challenges drivers up a 12.42 mile course and through over 156 turns to the finish line which sits at 14,115 feet. After Pikes Peak, she looks forward to competing with the ITC series again, as she continues to gain experience on some of America’s most famous racing circuits.

About Savannah Rickli Racing, LLC

Savannah Rickli started karting at the age of 11 but her love for racing began much earlier than that. Being born into a racing family, speed was always in her blood. Spending many of her days at the racetrack, Savannah got tired of just watching and saved up enough money to buy her own kart- what started out a hobby, soon turned into a deep passion and a burning desire to be on the track.

Savannah began karting with the SCCA’s Formula Junior Program and participated in SCCA Solo Nationals in 2008 and 2009. Following a childhood dream, in 2010, Savannah became the youngest driver to finish the world famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Savannah was awarded the Rookie of the Year award and finished third in the Time Attack 2WD class. Early in the 2011 season, Savannah earned her national competition license. By the time she turned 18, Savannah had two Pikes Peak International Hill Climb finishes. Savannah’s other experiences include ice racing with Colorado’s Our Gang Ice Racing, participation with National Auto Sports Association, and SCCA Rally Cross Nationals.

When Savannah isn’t racing, she enjoys traveling, writing, being with friends, and is a major movie buff. Savannah is a very dedicated student. She graduated a semester early from High School in December of 2010, and is working towards a marketing and psychology degree at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
