You know, we get asked a lot about why we want to run the Rallye Aicha des Gazelles. I mean, it’s 9 days off road through the desert of Morocco with no GPS, no cell phones, and no chase crews. Are we out of our minds?
Well, kind of. Michele and I both thirst for adventure, and we are always looking for new ways to push ourselves – mentally, physically, and emotionally. Frankly, I think the Rallye will be the most challenging for me emotionally. I think all of us drivers, whether it’s in pavement racing, rally, desert…whatever, we all have the power to psyche ourselves up or psyche ourselves out before and during a race. And while a big part of running this rally is raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, my personal goal is to go with the “up” part of the psyching, not the “out” part.
