INDIANAPOLIS, IN, April 26, 2012 – Glass Hammer Racing, LLC, (http://www.beatbyagirl.org) and Savannah Rickli are proud to announce a partnership that will put Rickli in the seat of an Intercontinental Trophy Cup Racing Porsche Cayman at races in New Jersey and Watkins Glen events later this spring. This latest announcement is the next step on a journey that started when Rickli sat behind the wheel for the first time, on her fathers lap, at three years old. The past fifteen years have been a whirlwind as Rickli continues to work towards her professional racing aspirations.
Rickli started her formal racing career competing in SCCA’s Formula Junior program as part of their Solo division. It was on these autocross courses that Rickli became confident in her aspirations to become a professional racecar driver. Rickli began seeking sponsorships to help her move up the motorsports ladder. Since her karting days, Rickli has had the opportunity to compete on some of the world’s greatest tracks in a variety of different types of cars. Rickli’s experience includes being the youngest driver, male or female, to complete the world famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, SCCA Club Racing, Ice Racing, RallyCross, Autocross, and a series of tests with professional race teams.
“Savannah has an enthusiasm for racing that is absolutely electric,” said Gregory Gaich, founder and owner of Glass Hammer Racing. “She’s a perfect representative for us, both on track as a racer and off track working to introduce the joy of motorsports to a whole new generation of little girls.”
Rickli is delighted have this opportunity to be a part of the future of Glass Hammer Racing. “When conversations first began with Greg (Gaich), I was really impressed by the goals of Glass Hammer Racing. When I was just starting in karting, I wish there would have been a program like this get the ball rolling! Even though I didn’t have a program like the GHR Experience, I had lots of mentors and support… so I really look forward to paying it forward and helping other young women towards their goals in motorsports. Plus it’s fun having ‘BeatByAGirl.org’ on my back bumper for everyone to see!!”
In addition to her duties racing in her ITC Cayman and instructing young women in the GHR Experience, Rickli will also be responsible for the initial development of a GHR-sponsored program to connect it’s racers with female mentors to help support their career development. “There are so many demands on any young racer, having a network of enthusiastic female mentors willing to help our drivers develop the business, marketing, media, and other skills necessary for success will be hugely beneficial,” said Gaich. “Savannah’s efforts to start just such a program will be bring a unique advantage to all our racers, now and in the future.” Savannah will also be putting her marketing education to use by assisting with GHR’s marketing and public relations, helping to spread the word about GHR’s mission and awesome programs.
Rickli participated in the recent Intercontinental Trophy Cup series test day at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Impressed by the cars and the other drivers, Rickli cannot wait for the first race weekend May 11-13. “Without the support from Glass Hammer, this season wouldn’t be possible.”
