Kokomo In., March 1, 2011 – Throttle Jockey’s Vicki Golden made history this past weekend at the Sacramento Arco Arena by becoming the first female to qualify for an AMA Areancross Lites class main event.
In only her third career Arenacross pro race, Golden rode her Resner Builders and Hardware Honda featuring Powerband graphics to her first main event in notable style. She got the holeshot and transferred directly from her heat race with a 5th place finish. She had a little misfortune in the main event coming into contact with the rear tire of another racer in the whoops and stalling her bike. She was unable to gain much ground back but rode well to the checkers.
”We are proud and honored to be associated with Vicki and this historical moment in our sport. Her goal to be the best and progress as a racer is inline with our goal as a company to make the best product and stay on the cutting edge. She is a great compliment to our brand” said Throttle Jockey’s Matt Davis.
“I am really happy to have achieved another goal in Arenacross, I just want to keep improving and moving forward” said Golden. “I am thrilled to be the first woman to make a main in Arenacross. I hope that I can help bring more attention to women’s motocross and help it continue to grow our sport any way I can”.
Golden’s next race is at the Intrust Bank Arena in Witchita, Kansas on Saturday, March 5, 2011 with a bike provided by Tuf Racing.
Golden’s Arenacross sponsors also include: Resner Builders and Hardware, K & N Filters, Fox Racing, Throttle Jockey Graphics, Maxima, Works Connection, Hinson, Factory Connection, Leatt Neck Braces and X Factor.
