Glamazon Racing, a female-owned organization aimed at encouraging women to pursue motorcycling, today announced plans to sponsor and help organize a landmark 8-hour CMRRA Endurance Race. This is the first 8-hour mini motorcycle race in the California Motorcycle Road Race Association’s history, and will be held on Saturday, May 17th at the Grangé Motor Circuit in
This race was of particular interest to Glamazon Racing because any riders age 6 years and up with any previous motorcycling experience are welcome to compete. No club affiliations or racing license necessary. Race fees are a reasonable $60 per racer, and there is no maximum or minimum number of racers per team. This inaugural amateur mini motorcycle event will likely run from daylight into darkness and finishers will complete the 8 hours under the lights.
Teams will race within 5 categories based on the displacement of the single motorcycle used per team. The categories are: Stock 50 (Yamaha YSR, Honda NSR or Aprilia), Modified 65cc-72cc, 85 Stock and Modified, 4-Stroke 0-200cc Motard, and Open Motard. Additionally, a fleet of NSR50R’s are available for rent. The rental motorcycles fit into the Stock 50 class, and can be rented one per team for $250.
The top three finishers within each category will be recognized, and winners are determined based on the number of laps completed during the 8 hour period. Counting is completed either manually (by human counters brought by each team), or by AMB transponders. Teams opting for the AMB transponder counter can bring their own, or rent one at the track for a fee of $20 per team.
Prizes for the winners will include cash prizes, trophies, and photographic recognition on cmrraendurance.com. Entry is now open, and all racer entries must be in by April 30, 2008. Glamazon Racing encourages females to join in this fun and exciting event and to meet other women who ride.
