Grace Howell looking to keep the momentum going

Aiken, SC – Grace Howell and the Cunningham Motorsports Team look to keep the momentum going entering this weekend’s 28th Annual NHRA Arizona Nationals.

Last weekend at the Winternationals, history was made as 2 females qualified in Pro Stock at a National Event.  This also marked the first time Grace had qualified for a National Event in the Pro Stock category.

This was not the first time; however, the two that made it in have raced in the same field.  Both came through the Junior Dragster ranks in the mid 90’s and raced against each other quite often.  This, however, is a whole new level.

“I was so excited to get in especially being the first race of a new year.  You go through testing, and the car does well, but that doesn’t always transfer to race day.  This time it did and it felt very good!” stated Grace. “I cannot thank Jim and Gloria enough for this opportunity.  Knowing they have confidence in me is very important.  New team members, New Year, just a great way to get started!”

Owner Jim Cunningham was equally excited.  “I’m proud of this team.  We made some personnel changes over the winter and to qualify at the first race shows me we’re heading in the right direction.”  This marks the second year in a row that the Cunningham Motorsports Pro Stock Ford Mustang was in at the Winternationals.

The team now heads to Phoenix for the Arizona Nationals looking to make the field and start going some rounds.
