ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 5) – Leah Pruett-Leduc qualified for her first ever Pro Mod race, won a round, wrecked her car, and pulled an all-nighter to make another pass – all in her first weekend racing the Roadrage.com Camaro in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Series.
“This was the ‘get comfortable’ weekend,” she said. “I learned a lot this weekend and bonded with my team. Now it’s ultimate win zone from here on out.”
Pruett-Leduc lost her second-round matchup with Mike Castellana on Sunday, but just getting the Roadrage.com Camaro to the line required a Herculean effort that spanned big chunks of two days after Pruett-LeDuc ran off the end of the track Saturday night and rolled her car over following her first-round victory.
“Just getting to race again today felt like a victory in and of itself,” she said “I had one of my best lights, hit the shift points right on time, and most importantly hit the ‘chutes right on time.
“You block out what happened and have to just say, ‘So what?’ You learn from it, but I had to put it in the back part of my brain and concentrate on everything else I had to do. I was extremely confident and wanted to win.”
The car itself looked out of sorts because the team had to cannibalize the maroon front end from teammate Raymond Commisso’s car and borrow his supercharger in order to make the call.
“I’m here because of Roadrage.com, the hood didn’t look that way today, but they were here for me,” she said. “Thank goodness we have our little supercharger program within R2B2 Racing. Everyone stuck together. We were here late last night and got back early in the morning all making sure everything fit together just right.”
Castellana ran a 5.908-second pass at 214.20 mph, while Pruett-Leduc ran a 6.040 at 245.63 mph. With this first race and many milestones behind her, Pruett-Leduc is ready to let her competitive side truly take over.
“I’m feeling comfortable,” she said. “I think it’s going to be on in Bristol.”
Next on the Get Screened America Pro Mod Series schedule is the June 17-19 Ford Thunder Valley Nationals from Bristol Dragway.
