June 14, 2012

PENTICTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Although the final results of the first two events of 2012 are not what Sarah Cornett-Ching has been looking for, the team is very happy with how well the car has performed, and very much looking forward to this Saturday night’s OK TIRE ARCA West Sportsman Series event at Prince George Auto Racing Association (PGARA).

On Saturday morning, Cornett-Ching will have her ARCA West Sportsman Series FORD racecar on display at Prince George Motors from 3pm to 6pm.  Sarah and her team will be on hand with the racecar, and will sign autographs and talk racing with everyone on hand. From there, she will head to the track to get ready for her third race in 2012.

“We are really looking forward to coming back to PGARA this weekend.  Last year was our first time at the track, and we really learned a lot, and I feel that we will be much better this time around”, says Cornett-Ching referring to her hard fought eighth place finish last season.

At the age of 21, Sarah, has big plans for the 2012 racing season.  She intends to run the full OK Tire ARCA West Sportsman series schedule, along with select events in the West Coast Sportsman series.  She also hopes to run in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series events at Motoplex Speedway in BC and Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatchewan.  Both event are run in July.

“I really want to be able to run in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this year.  Tentatively we have two races that we are hoping to do this season, and I would love to turn that into a full time ride in 2013”, says Cornett-Ching, who placed 14th in her NASCAR Canadian Tire Series debut last year at Motoplex Speedway.

In addition to her NASCAR debut in 2011, Sarah also raced several events in the OK Tire ARCA West Series and West Coast Sportsman Series including grabbing her first sportsman series win. She ran 11 races, and posted nine top ten finishes, four top fives, including a win at Motoplex Speedway in a West Coast Sportsman tour event.  Sarah was also a graduate of the Race 101 program in 2011, and winning the Marketing Excellence Award for her social networking skills that she obtained through the year long program.
