Lime Rock! – What Challenges are you going to Bring Me?

I have always heard amazing things about Lime Rock Raceway.  As the 3rd and 4th race of my 2011 season with the Playboy MX-5 Cup Series approaches I start to wonder what this Memorial Day will bring me?!  Due to the size of the race and the track being closed for racing on Sunday, it has left me with minimal track time!  This means a short learning curve for me to learn the track and get the set up correct quickly.  With the threat of potential rain, which has already crossed my mind, I know that Connecticut in May his quite a few showers!  I have minimal experince in the rain but look forward to the potential to gain rain racing experience at Lime Rock!

7 turns with multiple elevation changes will bring a great variety to the technical aspects of this facility.  This hopefully will be a track I grasp quickly and can get up to speed fairly quick!  The Memorial Day race weekend is known as “Memorial-Day Classic” which will feature numerous series.  Our first race on Saturday is on one rendition of the track while Monday’s race will be on another rendition.  Friday will have a round of practice followed by qualifying and then another round of practice on the different track configuration followed by another qualifying session.  Things will be quickly turned around on Friday and will not leave much room for error on my part.

A lot goes on between each race for Chryst Motorsports, between checking the car for any huge changes in setup and because I had a mishap with the tire wall in turn 3 at Road Atlanta we had a bit of body work damage to do.  It turns out my father is a great body work repair man!  The car is loaded and ready to head north!  With two races this coming weekend it will bring extra challenges for me as a driver and for my crew to make sure we are ready and have the car the best it can be.

I can’t wait to see this track and will be able after this weekend to add it to the list of places I have driven!
